Check out my review of Kathy Friedman's All the Shining People, a collection of interwoven short stories set loosely around South African Jewish immigrants living in Toronto's Thornhill neighborhood. I really loved this one -- it feels edgy, compelling, and really heartwarming despite its sometimes-tough subject matter.
