I was fortunate to review Zipora Klein Jakob's new book The Forbidden Daughter: The True Story of a Holocaust Survivor for the Jewish Book Council. It's the story of Elida Friedman, a much-longed-for child whose parents smuggled her out of the Kovno, Lituania ghetto to a complete stranger when she was just three months old.
